General The Company will arrange to conduct alcohol and/or drug testing as follows: A person is employed onboard a Ship Manaer ‘s vessel, and cause exists to suspect drug or alcohol use in violation of Company policy. Testing is required by law. Pre-employment test for drugs and Alcohol abuse shall be conducted once a year for all Officer and Ratings. Remaining validity of the test result shall be checked prior to each crew / officer joining a vessel to ensure it remains valid for the entire tour of duty. Annual Random unannounced drug and alcohol tests, to be carried out by a shore-based accredited Medical Agency. A positive test result or refusal to submit to a drug and alcohol test is ground s for disciplinary action which may result in instant termination of employment Implementation Pre-employment testing for drugs and Alcohol of lng tanker jobs abuse shall be conducted once a year for all Officers and Ratings. Testing will also be conducted for any employee when cause exists to suspect alcohol or drug use in violation of Company policy. Testing for drugs/alcohol may be carried out on any employee following a serious accident/incident onboard (e.g. collision, fire, grounding, pollution) at the Master or Manager’s discretion. The right to require testing, including testing for cause, will be a condition of employment for all personnel. Testing for Alcohol Testing for alcohol will be by breathalyser and/or urinalysis. All personnel may be tested for cause when impairment by alcohol is suspected. Testing may be initiated by vessel or shore personnel. Breathalysers will be provided onboard all Company vessels. Training will be given on the operation and calibration of the equipment where required. Tests may be carried out on any employee onboard, following a serious accident/incident involving the ship. These tests are to be carried out at the discretion of the Master or Managers. Testing for Drugs All testing for drugs will be by urinalysis or by a mouth swab. Drug testing, including urine sampling, will generally be conducted by trained shore personnel during vessel’s port calls. However, Master or a senior officer may be required to collect urine sample or carry out post incident drug testing using mouth swab for category A or B incidents For Cause All personnel may be tested for cause when a violation of the Company Drug Abuse Policy is suspected. Testing may be initiated by the vessel or shore personnel. For-cause testing, except in an emergency, will be conducted by trained shore personnel. Urine sampling and shipping kits for testing will be placed onboard. Other Tests Tests may be carried out on any employee following a serious accident/incident involving the ship at the discretion of the Master or Managers. Alcohol Testing Meter The Company places onboard each ship a meter for the testing of Alcohol. This meter must be kept in the Master’s care. The Master is responsible for maintaining the meter in a fully operational condition. The Alcohol-Meter must be sent ashore at 12 monthly intervals for calibration or the sensor or the equipment itself shall be replaced. Masters shall ensure a requisition for replacement or service, as applicable, is sent well within time.
