Many of you have probably wondered how to find a profitable and stable job. Unfortunately, in the modern world there are relatively few stable opportunities to earn money. Today, one of the few well-paid industries remains work at sea. Many companies involved in this particular industry offer vacancies for seafarers.
What you need to know about working at sea?
We all know that salaries in our country are quite low. But maritime vacancies pay quite well. Even if we talk about starting a career.
There are several maritime professions. Of course, we should start with the sailor. But it’s still important to initially decide what you like to do more - repair and disassemble devices, or maintain documentation and make maps.
There are three types of professions on a ship: mechanics, electromechanics and navigators. But in parallel there is also a section of the branch - the usual ordinary composition. It's quite difficult to break out of it. But there is also a command staff.
The rank and file are all sailors and mechanics. It is important to understand here that getting a job as a sailor on a ship is quite simple. However, their salaries are not very high. Training and obtaining the appropriate certificate in this area can be obtained at almost any training center. After this, it is enough to pass the exam at the appropriate institution. There is a slight difference in these two categories: sailors work on the deck, and engine mechanics work in the engine room.
Sailor's career growth
It is important to understand that training to become a sailor will cost you approximately $1,000. You can subsequently recoup this amount for the first month of work. At various shipowner firms, a sailor's salary averages from $800 to $1,200.
After you have completed several contracts on ships, you can already think about advanced training. At the same time, not only your position increases, but also, naturally, your salary. But it is important to notify yourself that in this way you can only grow to the rank of boatswain, and your salary will not be more than $2,200.
Team composition and career
The command staff consists directly of the captain himself, his assistants, the chief engineer and his assistants. This is where you can roam in terms of career growth. However, you will have to spend a lot of effort, time and money on training. In order to become a 4th mate, you need to spend 4 years at college, and then another 6 years at a higher educational institution that trains sailors. It won't come cheap. But despite this, you will be able to make great money in the future. Salaries for captain and chief engineer start at $2,500 and can reach as much as $14-16 thousand. Surely, this is a great incentive to go through the entire educational path.
