Normally, all work related to dry docking, repair and maintenance of the vessel is carried out under the supervision of the Supervisor of the vessel. Additions to the original specification may not be submitted without the permission of the Superinspector or the Company. The ship’s staff is responsible for thoroughly testing and proving the satisfactory results of all repairs, as well as for quality control and notifying the supervisor of any defects. Regular meetings between ship’s foremen, supervisor and the repairman is on schedule. Dry docking monitor progress and discuss difficulties and work before entering the dry board, the Chief engineer vacancy is responsible for ensuring that the wells and tank tops of the engine room are as dry as possible and that all double-bottomed tank lids are in place and secured. Fire pumps, sanitary pumps and sewage pumps must be isolated when the vessel is docked and connected to the shore fire main. Before the ship lands on a dry dock, the C/E and C/O must discuss and decide on the distribution of the ballast and the hopper to obtain the correct docking condition and thus avoid excessive hull stress when the ship accepts the blocks. Records of thrust forward and stern, as well as the fall of water or oil into double-bottomed tanks, peaks, coffers and bunker compartments must be in the E/R and Deck logs. Dry dock inspection When the docking station is dry, the foreman, chief engineer and the Company’s representative must inspect the foreman, chief engineer and the Company’s representative to determine the condition and presence of damage after pre-docking. Certificate without gas During the repair periods, no place will be considered gas-free if a certificate for the absence of gas has not been obtained and is not maintained. The certificate must indicate whether there is room for gas for hot work or for entry. The boiler blows down When it is necessary to steam the boiler during dry docks, purge valves and taps must be fixed to prevent accidental discharge into the dry dock. The purge valves on board the vessel shall be open at the berth.
