If you are seriously thinking about devoting yourself to maritime professions, then it is important to understand the state of the labor market for seafarers. Oddly enough, the demand for seafarers in the world is neither growing nor falling. He stays on the golden mean. But how can this be? After all, so many young people graduate from colleges and higher educational institutions in this specialty. But, according to statistics, most graduates do not continue their life path as a sailor. Why is this happening? The question is truly ambiguous, because each person has his own head on his shoulders and his own thoughts. Some people lose interest in this profession during their studies, and there are those who went to sea for the first time and didn’t like it. However, there are also students who, after graduation, go into the family business altogether. And only a small percentage actually go to work in their chosen profession. How to go to sea for the first time It is worth understanding that absolutely any work at sea begins directly with the signing of a contract. And it doesn’t matter whether this is a job that requires experience or not. And as soon as you complete your first contract on the ship, you receive your payment and can go home to await a new offer. All seafarers understand one simple truth: no crewing company guarantees that they will call you next time or offer you a contract on a new ship. To have a good chance of getting back into the sea, you need to prove yourself well. But, nevertheless, this is not a complete guarantee that a working proposal will follow. The role of a crewing agency in job search Today, any seafarer who wants to go to sea can do so exclusively with the help of a crewing agency. Shipowners provide information to such companies about open vacancies and the requirements that are put forward for each of them. The latter try to find candidates suitable for the proposed positions as soon as possible. There are currently over 400 official crewing agencies registered in Ukraine, more than half of which are located in Odessa. Fortunately, the days when candidates tried in vain to submit their profiles and knocked on the doorsteps of companies in the hope of getting a job have sunk into oblivion. Now all companies are trying to bring their services to the Internet. And now here you can find a huge number of sites for seafarers, where crewing companies publish their job offers. Sailors can post their resumes on such sites without any hassle. Such resources include Korabel.ru, Morehod.ru. A lot of useful information can also be found on the Crewing Newsletter website. On these resources you can find various vacancies at sea, be it in Ukraine or another country. A lot is told here about working at sea in Vladivostok, about crewing in St. Petersburg, crewing in Moscow, as well as companies offering employment from European countries. Thus, seafarers have the opportunity to view the proposed vacancies, regardless of where a particular agency is geographically located. This greatly simplifies the chances of finding a suitable job for yourself and going to sea again. It is very difficult to overestimate the work of crewing in modern maritime employment. Many agencies have successfully consolidated their positions. And thanks to the ability to work using the World Wide Web, relationships between seafarers, their managers and shipowners have reached a new, more productive level.
