Automatic translation The specificity of the "river-sea" type vessels becomes evident from the name. This is a type of vessel that has the parameters and tonnage to serve large river arteries that connect to the sea. The “river-sea” type of ships itself became a dedicated class back in the 1960s and was associated with the decision made by the Soviet government on the global reconstruction of waterways in the European part of the state. The economic efficiency of this kind of vessels is due to the absence of the need to reload the transported things from the river type to the sea one and to ensure the year-round operation of these vessels in non-freezing seas. The key feature of such ships, even during the design, was the combination of the incompatible - the ship had to meet both the requirements for sailing on the seas and along rivers. Thus, a river-sea vessel should have a shallow draft with limitations in width and length due to the dimensions of the river locks and canals along which it needs to navigate. For rigidity on such ships, an excess freeboard is made. Typically, ships of this type are equipped with two propellers, which give the greatest usefulness in the course of ships with limited landing. The stability of the vessel is regulated, thanks to the developed system of ballast and deep tanks. Operation of ships The operation of this type of vessel is mainly related to the geographic location of major ports or transshipment terminals with major river routes within the continent. Among the most important such routes, the Danube, Dnieper, Volga and other large rivers immediately pop up in the memory. In this regard, inland waterways are still actively exploited and developed. This pushes us to the fact that the possibility of finding employment for seafarers on such types of ships remains quite probable. Among Ukrainian sailors, work on ships of this type is not very popular. For some reason, sailors within their community refer to sea-river vessels as the entertaining term “toaddogs”. This is due, naturally, to the need for such ships to navigate rivers, where, often, opposite shores are visible, which for sailors who go on ultra-long-distance voyages without seeing any shores for several months is a kind of mockery of the specialty of a sailor as a whole. For our part, we believe that this approach is not correct, since in this case, a smaller distance does not mean simplification of duties. Historical excursion Another historical excursion - the "river-sea" type vessels began to be actively used in the Soviet Union after the successful tests in 1964. Then there was the possibility of a mixed voyage along the Volga-Baltic route. And the “river-sea” vessel named “Baltic-18” made the transition from Murmansk to Baku in just 15 days, demonstrating the advantages of such transportation. By the way, this transportation cost 30% less than a similar one, but by rail. Now the industry of cargo transportation on river-sea vessels continues to be one of the most demanded in Europe and Asia, since a significant cargo traffic passes through the inland seas - the Black, Mediterranean, Caspian. This is especially true of the Caspian basin, with its oil fields. Therefore, the crewing company Marine MAN Ltd ®, the official agent of the "Sky Mare" and "KSSL" ship-owning companies, specializing in river-sea cargo transportation, offers experienced senior officers open vacancies on ships operating in the Caspian Sea.
