- handling mooring lines
- maintenance support
The watchkeeping schedule is usually 4/8, similar to AB, but without Helmsman duties or independent operational responsibility.OS is essentially a learning stage under the supervision of AB and Bosun. After 12 months of sea service and passing the AB Certificate of Proficiency examination, you can move to the next level.
EU Passport Advantage
Seafarers holding EU citizenship are priority candidates for Norwegian, Dutch, German, Danish, and Greek operators.Salary levels are often 30–50% higher due to European collective agreements such as ITF Norway and Netherlands TCC.Top OS salaries for EU passport holders reach up to €2,500/month on the offshore fleet
.Especially demanded candidates from:
- Poland
- Lithuania
- Latvia
- Estonia
- Bulgaria
- Romania
- Croatia

For OS positions this matters significantly:
