The modern fleet consists not only of container ships, tankers and cruise ships, but also auxiliary vessels, without which the uninterrupted operation of other maritime facilities is impossible. One of these is supply vessel. It plays a key role in providing offshore platforms, drilling rigs and other vessels with everything they need to function. Working on such a vessel is an interesting and stable employment option for seafarers with different levels of training.

Features and characteristics of the supply vessel

As we have already said, this is a specialized vessel designed to deliver various types of cargo, fuel, water, equipment and personnel to offshore drilling platforms and other facilities located offshore. Such vessels are capable of performing a variety of tasks, including logistics support, emergency response, towing and participation in rescue operations.

Depending on the configuration and purpose, supply vessels are divided into several types:

Supply vessels are involved in all stages of the life cycle of offshore platforms - from installation and drilling to operation and repair. Main tasks:

  1. Cargo transportation: the supply vessel delivers pipes, cement, chemicals, tools, containers with equipment to the platform.
